Jacques Polge

Jacques Polge is a monumental figure of modern perfumery, celebrated worldwide for having been the exclusive nose of the house of Chanel for nearly forty years, from 1978 to 2015. Born near Avignon in 1943 and raised not far from Grasse, the historic cradle of perfume, he was first passionate about literature and poetry before finding his true calling in olfactory creation. His immense talent lay in preserving the legacy of Ernest Beaux (creator of the legendary N°5) while radically modernising Chanel's identity for a new era of haute parfumerie.

Over his long and prolific career he composed masterpieces that completely redefined the standards of luxury, signing worldwide successes such as Coco, Coco Mademoiselle, Allure, Chance and Bleu de Chanel. He is also behind the extraordinary Les Exclusifs de Chanel collection, with treasures like Coromandel and Sycomore that continue to fascinate lovers of rare essences. In 2015 he officially passed the creative torch to his son, Olivier Polge, leaving an indelible mark on the global perfume industry.
