Jean-Christophe Hérault is a contemporary perfumer of great talent at the IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances) composition house, known for his mastery of accords that are at once complex, textured and strikingly powerful. Trained and closely mentored by the legendary Pierre Bourdon, the creator of Cool Water, he inherited from that strict school an absolute rigour in the construction of his formulas and a passion for sillages that pair a very classical elegance of craft with real modern daring. A great lover of art, literature and gastronomy, he draws inspiration from the scent memories of a youth spent near the fields of the Oise, giving his creations a dimension that is often narrative and sophisticated.

While his talent shows through many creations for designer and niche houses, his most monumental achievement remains, without question, the creation of the mythical Aventus for the house of Creed in 2010. That absolute masterpiece, whose unique, avant-garde accord of juicy pineapple, smoky birch sap and oakmoss literally redefined the codes of modern masculine perfumery, is still one of the most coveted and influential scents among demanding connoisseurs. Beyond that historic creation, Jean-Christophe Hérault has also signed resounding, warm successes such as the bestseller Spicebomb Extreme for Viktor & Rolf, The One Mysterious Night for Dolce & Gabbana, and several sumptuous, conceptual compositions for Mugler's Les Exceptions collection.
