Civet

A rare and historic perfume note with a warm, animalic, musky character, often described as honeyed, leathery, and sensual. Traditionally, civet was obtained from the secretion of the civet cat, collected from glands and processed for perfumery. Today, natural civet is rarely used and has largely been replaced by ethical synthetic alternatives. It remains valued for the depth, richness, and distinctive character it brings to fragrances.
